Our Founding Fathers were gifted with timeless wisdom that germinated and grew into revolutionary governing documents that forged a Union in which all governance is in alignment with Divine Principles. The principle of Self-sovereignty is at the root of this founding. The concept of Self-sovereignty or “self ownership” is the moral or natural right of a person to belong to oneself, maintain bodily integrity, and be the exclusive decision maker and controller of one’s own body and life. Self-sovereignty places individuals in a paradigm of personal freedom in which one is answerable only to God.

When we acknowledge that we are 100% responsible for our own lives, that we own our own lives, that we, alone, are accountable for our decisions, decisions are made very carefully and thoughtfully. Any intention, attitude, action, or decree, placed upon oneself or others has a multitude of unknown consequences. If these intentions, actions or decrees, are not in alignment with a Higher Order, then the individual will be directly responsible. The same goes for government decisions that do not take into account the effect on the individual. Any mandates or laws that infringe on the liberty or conscience of the individual are always fraught with the unintended consequence of weakening society. According to Clarissa Pinkola Estes, “A culture that authentically promotes individual development will never make a slave class of any group or gender.” It is paramount to promote the development of the individual over the artificial engineering of society; in so doing, the well-being of society as a whole is safeguarded.
A Self-reliant individual is responsible for decisions across life’s broad spectrum. The individual receives the satisfaction and reward of supplying oneself, family, and community with the resources for survival and well being. The motive and payoff for self reliance is fulfillment and meaning. Self-reliance is absolutely critical for deep character development and incentive to continue facing the challenges life will present. The lifestyle of personal responsibility guarantees an individual's ownership of their successes and acceptance of their failures. Self-reliance is the ultimate tool for self-learning, self-correction, and self-esteem.
The Right to Choose
Being subject to a governing power that is acting in opposition to one’s conscience limits one’s ability to operate in daily life without dire personal consequences. An example of this would be tax-payer funded abortions that run counter to the conscience of many; or the inverse, using taxpayer money to support religions that aren’t in alignment with one’s own beliefs. The concept of body autonomy comes into play in situations such as mandatory vaccinations, or government health interventions, where one reserves the human right to choose what interventions are permissible for one’s own body. Self-sovereignty is required for living an unimpeded life where one has the option of choosing Higher Order responsibilities, while simultaneously pursuing the highest ideals without undue influence.

Recognition of these truths leads an individual onto a path of certainty that the highest good will be pursued. If the individual is empowered by truthful living, then the essential power that creates good will influence individuals, spouses, children, family, church, community and eventually provide a foundation for a society and culture that is oriented towards radical fulfillment of maximum good. A nation such as this can never be defeated.
